Enriched by its recent acquisition of Dorne & Margolin Antenna Technologies (D&M), the cumulative 100 years of design experience positions EDO to expand its antenna business through the synergism of engineering expertise and production capability.

EDO's antenna experience . . .

started in the 1940's, led to pioneering printed circuit antennas in the 1950's and spaceborne antennas in the 1960's. With the acquisition of Jasik Laboratories in the 1970's, our antenna products moved into a variety of demanding spaceborne and direction finding arrays (SR-71 ELINT) while the 1980's saw production of EW, ATC and radar antennas for military applications. In the 1990's, Antenna Products and Technology moved to entrepreneurial products built upon the successful military experiences of robust, high performance designs and products, sold directly to the U. S. Government, aerospace prime and commercial companies.

D&M has over 50 years of experience . . .

DM Antenna Technology in antenna design and manufacturing which has resulted in a current delivery rate of 35,000 antennas per year, all noted for their performance, durability and dependability. Created through the union of two of the most highly recognized antenna companies in the world (Dorne & Margolin and Chu Associates), Dorne & Margolin designed and manufactured antennas for airborne, ground-based, vehicular mounted and shipboard applications. Many of the current industry standards in use by all antenna designers started as D&M innovations: the annular slot, the balanced loop, and the single output/dual function radiator. Over the years, D&M employed fabrication innovations such as sophisticated techniques of common fiberglass bonding and honeycomb technology to achieve a strength-to-weight ratio required for operational military hardware and for most commercial applications. In addition, D&M has used cutting edge technology to develop custom embedded (conformal) antenna designs for aircraft, ships and handheld electronics, as well as multifunction and low RCS antennas.

DM Antenna Technology The combined capabilities of these companies, now known as the Antenna Products and Technologies business unit, results in a highly capable organization, uniquely qualified to design both competitive and complex antennas and systems inclusive of phased arrays, controllers, direction finding systems with receiver front ends, butler matrices, built-in-test, as well as platform integrated composite radiating structures.

The broad application of our packaging technology includes military or commercial installations on fixed wing aircraft, ships, submarines, helicopters, tiltrotor aircraft, Remotely Piloted Vehicles (RPV's), electronic pods, as well as ground fixed and mobile platforms. The complete product line encompasses well over one thousand products, and no other manufacturer has more antennas in current operation. This strong technology base combined with high volume production manufacturing truly presents the optimum combination of design capability and cost competitiveness to our customers.
