Defense Systems maintains an ISO 9001 Quality System which is registered by Underwriter’s Laboratory (File # A1680) since 1994. Our Quality Systems have been qualified and approved by Long Island – audit Defense Contractor Management (DCM). The quality and production process controls have also been approved or certified under Boeing D6-82479, DOT/FAA FAR Part 21, SAE AS9100, DOT/FAA FAR Air Agency Repair Station. EDO ESG calibration system is under ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.

ELECTRONIC WARFARE SYSTEMS
EDO is a recognized world leader in the design, development, production and support of Airborne self-protect and support jamming systems. We have a long history of delivering sophisticated EW systems, and providing the associated customer support to achieve the combat capability deserved by our warfighters.

SELF-PROTECT - Among the EW systems delivered by EDO in the past is the AN/ALQ-161 self-protect system for the USAF B-1B Bomber. This system was designed exclusively for the B-1B, and is one of the most sophisticated airborne EW systems ever fielded. The AN/ALQ-161 has protected the B-1B in several recent conflicts with an outstanding performance record, and has several important enhancements programmed in the near future. Another self-protect EW system available through EDO is the Advanced Capability POD or (ACaP). The ACaP is designed for fighter aircraft and is a state-of-the-art, combat proven system. It’s small dimensions, lightweight and outstanding design characteristics provide the warfighter much flexibility in weapons, fuel and EW POD loading. The ACaP components can also be used in an internal three LRU or WRA configuration. Both external POD and internal (on board) solution weigh just over 200 pounds.

SUPPORT JAMMING - A major EW system delivered by EDO is the AN/ALQ-99 support jamming system for the US Navy’s EA-6B. This system has served US and allied air forces for 4 decades in the Suppression Of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) arena, and has recently been upgraded by EDO to insure its effectiveness for years to come. The EA-6B is the sole SEAD platform in the US inventory. The Universal Exciter Upgrade (UEU) Program has incorporated advanced jamming techniques utilizing Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS), high density ASICs, Multichip Modules (MCMs) and Ball Grid Array (BGA) packaging. We have delivered 480 UEUs to the U.S. Navy since 1998.

RADAR SYSTEMS
EDO is a supplier of world-class ground-based Moving Target Indicator (MTI) Radars and Airborne MTI and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) - Fixed Target Imaging - radars. Our radar products consist of a family of modular radars which rely on a fully mature complement of radar hardware and software modules which may be configured as either airborne systems or ground-based configurations for Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, Imaging and Electro-Optic Sensor Cueing. EDO's product line also includes, Range Instrumentation, Air-Intercept, and Surface Surveillance Radars, and Missile Warning systems.

The radars represent state-of-the-art in performance for Moving Target Indicator (MTI), Air-Intercept and SAR Imagery for this size, weight, and power class. The radars operate in the Ku-frequency band, and are a fully coherent, pulsed Doppler design. Due to their modular design, their applications are extremely flexible, and the systems are readily integrated onto a variety of platforms ranging from Jeeps and HMMWV's to manned aircraft, external pod, UAV's and airships. Man-portable, battery powered, configurations are available.

The SARs are realized by the addition of a SAR Module to the Airborne MTI systems. The SAR systems provide both fine and coarse resolution imagery in strip and spotlite modes.

EDO's modular radar systems are designed to meet the reconnaissance, surveillance, and imaging requirements of military and civilian agencies.

Missile Approach Warning - The Tail Warning Function (TWF) radar system is a pulse Doppler radar that detects the presence of approaching missiles in the tail region of the aircraft and initiates appropriate defensive countermeasures. The TWF system successfully completed a rigorous Air Force operational flight-test program conducted at low altitudes and high speeds. During overland and over water flight profiles, throughout these tests, the TWF radar exceeded specified missile detection rates with extremely low false-alarm rates.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
Our Defense Systems business unit is a specialized defense contractor with the organic capability to conceive, design, develop, fabricate, test, and fully support electronic equipment for both military and commercial environments. We provide customized subsystems, embedded system products, design services, and a complete range of Reliability, Maintainability, and Supportability services.

Subsystems - With over 50 years of experience we are a recognized leader in developing embedded technologies for defense applications and are proud of our long record of working with the DoD and Prime Defense contractors on a number of major defense projects.

Our defense subsystems team provides electronic equipment for military and commercial communications systems and a wide range of other applications. We have pioneered many advanced RF microwave and millimeter wave subsystems, and have developed leading edge RF communication technologies for numerous advanced applications. The U.S. Department of Defense as well as major defense primes have turned to us for highly reliable, rapidly developed, innovative solutions to meet radar, communications and electronic warfare challenges.

We are providing our customers with concept development, system analysis and requirements for receivers, transmitters, controllers, exciters, processing algorithms, signal and hardware/software processing design and integration and test. Includes channelized, compressive, interferometry and super-hetrodyne receivers, and algorithms, to detect and precisely locate targets. This includes receiver/transmission subsystem design and processing algorithms for both conventional and spread spectrum signals. This is all supported by modeling and simulation used to evaluate subsystem performance.

AIR QUALITY MONITORING
The EDO RAM 2000™ system is an affordable, user friendly instrument that can provide real-time identification and quantification of over 250 chemicals and detection levels mostly in the range of 0.1 to 15 ppb (path-averaged). Unlike point monitors, it monitors an entire path up to 1000 meters in length, giving a vapor cloud little chance to pass through undetected.

The RAM 2000™ is the most advanced, practical method for gas monitoring along a fenceline. This Open-Path FTIR Analyzer can operate continuously and unattended while identifying and quantifying individual chemicals in gas mixtures.
When gases pass through the monitored path, the RAM 2000™ detects, quantifies, and reports the amounts of each chemical in real-time.

NUCLEAR DETECTION
EDO's GammaCam™ system represents a completely new dimension in assessing nuclear radiation fields by producing accurate two-dimensional images of gamma ray emitting objects. The portable system provides real-time pseudo-color gamma ray imagery superimposed on a conventional black and white video picture. Remote operation of the sensor head allows safe acquisition of gamma ray images in high radiation environments while minimizing worker exposure.

Sales and leases to both the Department of Energy (DoE) and commercial nuclear facilities demonstrate that the GammaCam™ is a useful tool in identifying gamma radiation sources and reducing exposure to personnel. The recorded gamma ray images can be used in multiple applications including survey management, job planning, inspection, and shielding evaluation. In addition to being a valuable ALARA tool, GammaCam™ improves the initial site characterization of Decontamination and Decommissioning job sites and characterization of unknown sources. By identifying the highest gamma radiation sources, the GammaCam™ provides valuable dose reduction information. Before and after images captured by the GammaCam™ are a useful tool in validating gamma radiation source elimination.

MANUFACTURING SERVICES
EDO has been designing and manufacturing RF/Microwave hardware for over fifty years. Our expertise in design, packaging, assembly and test will enhance the value and cost effectiveness of your products. We specialize in high end products (e.g. high reliability military and space products) especially where size is a concern.

Highly Integrated MMIC Supercomponents for Millimeter Wave/Microwave Applications are produced both for internal use and outside clients in our Microelectronics facility. Our Extensive capabilities can support virtually any production requirements for commercial through space environments

We are producers of high-quality thin film products since 1965 for space, military and commercial applications. We are committed to providing quick response quotations and product delivery, supported by our large inventory of raw materials.

All EDO's thin film products are fabricated in a 10,000 sq. ft. Class 10,000 clean room to the highest industry standards. Our resistor films are extremely uniform which improve substrate yield and minimize the cost of resistor trimming.

We successfully provide specialized Surface Mount Technology (SMT) support and production to our customers with the highest standards of quality and reliability. EDO, formerly AIL Systems Inc., is a designer, manufacturer and approved supplier of High Reliability Electronic Assemblies for the U.S. Military and Space Community since 1945.

This includes engineering, production, and test of modules where hermetically sealed ceramic components, especially leadless chip carriers, are required to meet both reliability and volumetric requirements. We are particularly adept at implementing constrained core designs to meet these requirements when dictated by the typical environmental requirements of military or space programs. Our proprietary processes to address the inherent problems with constrained core design have been developed and proven through a succession of successful programs each using "the latest in carrier concepts".

Recognizing the critical role of environmental testing in the reliability and fielded performance of our customers' products, EDO ESG has made major investments in its environmental test assets. The Environmental Engineering Laboratory is fully qualified to MIL-STD-810E/F requirements.

Approximately 10,000 feet of dedicated space houses EDOs Environmental Testing Laboratory, which contains all the vibration and climactic test apparatus for qualification and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) testing. Examples of EDO ESG's capital assets include six electrodynamic vibration systems ranging from 6,000 to 30,000 pounds of force, five vibration and shock control system, and 12 environmental chambers ranging from 1 cubic foot to 1,000 cubic feet. All environmental simulation equipment has been installed with microprocessor based control systems, which ensure full specification compliance.
