EDO is a designer and manufacturer of high-performance electronic assemblies for military and space applications, and the development and production of affordable, high-quality, electromechanical systems and equipment for government and commercial marine and aircraft applications.

Defense Systems maintains an ISO 9001 Quality System which is registered by Underwriter’s Laboratory (File # A1680) since 1994.. Our Quality Systems have been qualified and approved by Long Island – audit Defense Contractor Management (DCM). The quality and production process controls have also been approved or certified under Boeing D6-82479, DOT/FAA FAR Part 21, SAE AS9100, DOT/FAA FAR Air Agency Repair Station. EDO ESG calibration system is under ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.

AIRCRAFT & ARMAMENT SYSTEM
LAU-142/A AMRAAM VERICAL EJECT LAUNCHER (AVEL)
Stealth plays a major role in many of today's aircraft missions. The Lockheed-Martin
F-22 Raptor is the state-of-the-art in stealth technology. With the need to carry and eject AMRAAM missiles from within concealed weapons bays, EDO, as part of the F-22 Team, developed a new launcher capable of achieving all internal bay armament delivery requirements. The result is the LAU-142/A AVEL which carries and ejects missiles from internal missile bays for safe aircraft separation at mach speeds.

The AVEL employs a highly-reliable, nonpyrotechnic energy system controlled by aircraft electrical and hydraulic power. When commanded for in-flight missile launch, the AVEL system charges, and then safely ejects the missile through the air-flow boundary layer very rapidly. Safe ground loading operations are conducted with the AVEL in a ground-safe extended position.

ADVANCED COMPOSITE STRUCTURES
In both the marine and aerospace industries, EDO is focusing its resources to develop and apply high-strength, lightweight materials to meet the constant demand for reduced weight, increased reliability, and lower cost. This initiative, combined with our unique experience in complex mechanical systems and structures, positions us as a systems integrator as well as an equipment supplier for our prime customers.

EDO offers the aerospace industry a premier capability in the design, analysis and fabrication of advanced composite structures. This capability arises from a dedicated, experienced staff of composites specialists using the very latest design and analysis tools. Our composite development team consists of personnel with a diversity of backgrounds derived from programs such as the Boeing 757, 767, 777, C-17, F-14, F-15, and V-22. Components and structural subsystems developed for these programs include wings, tails, cowlings and nacelles. The team is also well versed in state-of-the-art advanced technology composites featuring high strain, post buckled, mini-sandwich and hybrid structures. EDO is the supplier of weapons release units on the Lockheed Martin Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).
