EDO is one of the largest suppliers of piezoelectric materials in North America and a leader in meeting the United States Navy's requirements for underwater acoustic transducers and arrays for navigation and communication sonars.
Since 1958 we have provided ceramic based products for defense and aerospace applications including underwater acoustic transducers and arrays for navigation and communication sonars for the United States Navy and its prime contractors, seismic and offshore oil exploration, industrial positioning and actuation, and medical devices.
Our 150,000 square foot facility supports complete ceramic design, engineering, manufacturing and support functions, and provides for the production of both standard and custom piezo-ceramic elements including ceramic used by the microwave communications industry. Electro-Ceramic's on-site test facilities are capable of the full range of tests required in the proofing of hydrophones, transducers or sonar arrays, as well as testing of all EDO ceramic elements. Electro-Ceramic Products is an ISO 9001 registered facility.

Electro-Ceramic Products is one of the largest suppliers of piezoelectric materials in North America. We offer standard ceramic compositions in a complete range of sizes and shapes. This provides designers with a greater range of parameters for use in a variety of applications.
Transducers, Arrays, and Sonars. . .
For over forty years, meeting the U. S. Navy's requirements for naval underwater acoustic transducers and arrays for communication and navigation sonars has been our primary focus. EDO's unique personnel team and world-class facility have the complete design, engineering, manufacturing, test and field service capability to successfully address Navy underwater acoustic programs needs.
Transducers and arrays developed and produced by EDO include a wide range of submarine and surface ship applications for passive and active ASW, ASW training, underwater communications, depth sounding, and under ice operations. Platforms equipped with EDO transducers and arrays include the Los Angeles, Ohio, and Virginia class submarines, and all surface combatants and auxiliaries. These high value-added devices and systems are critical to the combat readiness of every submarine and surface ship in the Navy's fleet.

EDO is an industry leader in the following areas:
- Underwater Acoustic Transducers and Arrays: EDO has led the industry in supporting Navy programs requiring innovative designs for reduced acquisition costs, improved reliability and repairability, and towed array and hull-mounted array area-averaging hydrophones. EDO's program involvement includes: Wide Aperture Array, SQR-19 and TB-29A towed arrays, depth sounder and underwater telephone arrays. EDO is a leader in the development of motion sensors for use in sonar.
- Depth Sounding Sonars: The U.S. and other Navies worldwide rely on EDO to provide precise and dependable depth sounding sonars for safe navigation. EDO has supplied all of the U.S. Navy's standard AN/UQN-4A depth sounders and has recently begun the rapid development and production of the AN/BQN-17A secure depth sounder, a ruggedized COTS depth sounder with stealth features for the U.S. Navy Submarine Force.
- Underwater Telephone Systems: EDO provides the Model 5400 series of underwater telephone (UWT) systems for U.S. Navy tactical and auxiliary communications needs. The Model 5400 UWT is used in the Virginia Class Submarine, the Advanced Swimmer Delivery System (ASDS), deep submergence and acoustic range support programs, and the Spanish Navy F-100 Frigate. EDO also supplies a full range of LF and HF transducers for underwater communications, as well as supporting recent developments for underwater digital communications.
- Precision Velocity Logs: EDO was one of the first developers of operationally fielded Doppler Sonar Velocity Logs (DSVL) for the U. S. Navy. With its unique, patented phased array technology, EDO supports the Navy's transition from electromagnetic velocity logs technology, to the more precise DSVL technology. Key Navy programs at EDO include the Advanced Swimmer Delivery System (ASDS), the AN/WQN-2A DSVL for U. S. Navy submarines and surface ships, and a number of special projects.

EDO designs and manufactures a broad line of piezoelectric devices and custom assemblies. From ultrasonic cleaners to specialty medical transducers, we specialize in the manufacture of piezo actuators.
- Power Amplifiers - Designed to drive high voltage actuators at low to moderate frequencies.
- Actuators - We specialize in the manufacture of both stack and bender type piezo actuators.
- Transducers, Piezo Assemblies and Subsystems - EDO manufactures piezoelectric devices and custom assemblies to meet the unique needs of customer applications.
- High Speed Piezoelectric Micropositioning Motor - Low cost, low profile ultrasonic piezoelectric motor that uses EDO's own piezoelectric based, solid state actuator technology integrated with a modular electronic drive circuit.
