EW Systems: Overview
EDO Corporation has a long history of delivering sophisticated EW systems, and providing the associated customer support to achieve the combat capability deserved by our warfighters.
self-protect
Among the EW systems delivered by EDO is the AN/ALQ-161
self-protect system for the USAF B-1B Bomber. This system was designed exclusively for
the B-1B, and is one of the most sophisticated airborne EW systems ever fielded. The
AN/ALQ-161 has protected the B-1B in several recent conflicts with an outstanding performance
record, and has several important enhancements programmed in the near future.
Another self-protect EW system available through EDO is the Advanced Capability POD or (ACaP). The ACaP is designed for fighter aircraft and is a state-of-the-art, combat proven system. It’s small dimensions, lightweight and modern design characteristics provide the warfighter much flexibility in weapons, fuel and EW POD loading. The ACaP components can also be used in an internal three LRU or WRA configuration. Both external POD and internal (on board) solution weigh just over 200 pounds.
SUPPORT JAMMING
A major EW system delivered by EDO is the AN/ALQ-99
support jamming system for the US Navy’s EA-6B. This system has served US and allied
air forces for 4 decades in the Suppression Of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) arena, and has
recently been upgraded by EDO to insure its effectiveness for years to come. The EA-6B
is the sole SEAD platform in the US inventory.
In addition to the systems described above, EDO has extensive experience in the following related areas:
