Enhanced Automated Special Test Equipment (EASTE) AN/ALM-280
The EDO TSO AN/ALM-280 is a ruggedized, fully programmable mobile Radar/Electronic Warfare (R/EW) test system designed to accomplish performance verification of a wide variety of R/EW systems. The EASTE program was started in 1989 and the USAF has procured 15 test carts to date.

EDO TSO incorporated a versatile hardware and software design into the AN/ALM-280 making the test cart very flexible and extensible. The EASTE is an excellent tool for developmental testing of new or upgraded radar or EW systems. The EASTE carts are currently used to support testing and maintenance on the B-1A and B-2A bombers. In addition, the AN/ALM-280 has a tested configuration for supporting the B-52 bomber.

The AN/ALM-280 is controlled via user-friendly display prompts. A remote terminal keyboard/display allows a single technician to control test activity and analyze test results remotely, even from inside the aircraft crew compartment. The EASTE operates in automatic, semi-automatic, or manual modes to provide the different configurations needed to test, perform fault isolation, and assist in the maintenance of the system-under-test (SUT).

EDO TSO continues to provide software and hardware upgrades such as:

• Changing the cart’s computer from a VAX to Windows based PC
• Upgrading the cart’s amplifiers and general purpose test equipment
• Modifying and upgrading computer operating systems and testing software
