Recognizing the critical role of environmental testing in the reliability and fielded performance of our customers' products, our EW sector has made major investments in its environmental test assets. The Environmental Engineering Laboratory is fully qualified to MIL-STD-810E/F requirements.

Approximately 3,000 feet of dedicated space houses our Environmental Laboratory, which contains all the vibration and climactic test apparatus for qualification and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) testing. Examples of EDO's capital assets include electrodynamic vibration systems ranging from 6,000 to 30,000 pounds of force, vibration and shock control system, and environmental chambers up to 110 cubic feet. All environmental simulation equipment has been installed with microprocessor based control systems, which ensure full specification compliance.

EDO's extensive list of support equipment is on par with that of many independent environmental test laboratories. For example, we use a non-contact thermal imaging system when the use of thermocouples is not practical. We can measure up to 30 active channels of vibration data simultaneously, and continuous runs can be recorded in Digital Audio Table (DAT) format. Furthermore, advanced data acquisition equipment can continuously monitor up to 100 thermocouples, along with additional 100 channels of real-time electrical performance measurements.
