EDO Executive Profile - Frank W. Otto

Frank Otto is Senior Vice President of Strategic Development for EDO Corporation.

Mr. Otto received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from SUNY Stony Brook. After graduation he joined the Grumman Aerospace Corporation where he worked in the Aerodynamics Group evaluating foreign threat aircraft and later transferred to the Marine Systems Division as Chief Hydrodynamicist.

In 1979 Mr. Otto joined EDO Corporation, located in College Point, Queens. He served in a number of positions in the advanced systems and engineering departments including Section Head and Department Head.

In 1992 Mr. Otto was appointed Director of Operations for the Government Systems Division of the Corporation and in 1994 became the General Manager of the Marine & Aircraft Systems Division located in North Amityville, New York. In 2000, he was appointed to the position of Group Vice President of EDO’s Integrated Systems and Structures business group with responsibilities for all composite, aircraft armament and mine countermeasures (MCM) work within the Corporation.

Mr. Otto Co-Chairman of the Board of the Long Island Technology Network (LITNet) and a member of the Academic Advisory Council for the Mechanical Engineering Department at SUNY Stony Brook. He is former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Long Island Forum of Technology (LIFT). He is the author and co-author of numerous papers in the fields of fluid mechanics and hydrodynamics and was an associate editor of the AIAA Journal.
