Mine Sweep System: A/N37U-1

The A/N37U-1 is a mechanical minesweeping system which provides lightweight clip-on technology and is airborne and surface capable. This cutting edge technology provides depth variability, increased sweep width and depth ability, with improved availability and reliability.

The A/N37U-1 system consists of wires, control depth otters, depressors, and auxiliary depressors that, when armed with MK-17 MOD 1 Cutters, sweeps moored mines by severing their mooring lines. The system provides high area coverage rate and is capable of being configured to sweep moored mines in various water depths. System sweep depth is achieved and maintained by programmable electric controlled otters and depressor, auxiliary depressors, and forward speed of the helicopter. Otters divert the sweep wires to obtain and maintain sweep width as well as selected depth. When the helicopter reaches the operations area, the A/N37U-1 system is deployed from the cabin in its sweep configuration.
