EDO SUPPORTS NATIONAL MARINE
CORPS MUSEUM
FALLS CHURCH, Va. - May 23, 2003 - EDO Corporation (NYSE:EDO) presented a gift of $5,000 to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation during a recent ceremony at the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va.
The donation will
help support creation of the National Museum of the Marine Corps and Heritage Center,
to be located on a 135-acre site next to the Quantico base. Established in 1979, the
Heritage Foundation is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation
and promotion of Marine Corps history and tradition.
During the April 25 ceremony, James M. Smith, EDO's chief executive officer, presented the gift to Brigadier General (USMC Ret.) Jerry McKay, the foundation's chief operating officer. "EDO is proud of its long and productive association with the Marine Corps and is particularly proud of the contribution that the men and women of the Corps have made in the most recent conflict," said Smith. "We hope that this gift will help visitors to the museum recognize the important role of the Marines and the Heritage Foundation in our national history." Lieutenant General Ed Hanlon, Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command joined Jim Smith and General McKay for the presentation.
The Center will be
the first world-class, national museum to share Marine Corps heritage. The dramatic architectural
design is intended to create an immediate and powerful impact, and serve as an enduring
symbol of the Marine Corps' contribution to the American people. The following web sites

A number of EDO divisions are working closely with the Marine Corps. For
example, EDO's Professional Services Division, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., has
proudly supported the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab for nearly seven years. The EDO team
assists the lab with its purpose of improving current and future naval expeditionary
warfare capabilities across the spectrum of conflict for current and future Marine operating
forces. The large contingent of former Marines within the division makes them uniquely
qualified to support the future Marine Corps warfighting vision. EDO's
Combat System Division, through its recently acquired Darlington operations, is producing
an innovative new mobile communications and network management system called the Joint
Enhanced Core Communications System (JECCS). The first three JECCS units are in the final
stages of testing and acceptance and will represent the centerpiece of the USMC's new
First-In Command and Control System (FICCS).
EDO Corporation provides military products and professional services to the United States
and allied governments, and their prime defense contractors. EDO focuses on systems and
subsystems that are integral to the success of long-term military platforms, such as
the B-1B bomber, the F/A-22, the Joint Strike Fighter, and the Comanche Helicopter. Examples
of the company's highly engineered products include aircraft weapon-release systems,
ship and aircraft self-protect systems, and high-performance composite structures. The
company also has a number of high-performance commercial product lines. An aggressive
acquisition program is diversifying the base of major platforms and customers. EDO is
at the core of the transformation to a lighter, faster, and smarter national defense
capability.
