EDO COMPLETES DELIVERY AND ACCEPTANCE TESTING OF CCIS
FOR THE NORWEGIAN COAST GUARD

NEW YORK - July 11, 2003 - EDO Corporation (NYSE:EDO) has completed sea-acceptance trials of its Command, Control and Information System (CCIS) on board three Norwegian Coast Guard vessels. The live-fire exercises conducted in June complete an eighteen-month delivery and acceptance schedule. A fourth Norwegian Coast Guard vessel under contract for CCIS installation is scheduled to begin modernization in 2004. EDO Corporation is the prime contractor and ship integrator for the CCIS.

EDO's CCIS is an open-architecture system that enhances maritime operations in both the littoral and open-ocean environments. It includes modules for surface-search radar, electro-optic fire-control system, hull-mounted sonar, integrated bridge system, navigation system and helicopter control system, all fully integrated with EDO's Piranha I Command Management System (CMS). CMS is designed for modular integration of sensor and weapons systems and complies with Navy Open Architecture Computing Environment (NOACE) standards. It also provides automated decision aids for on-scene command, real-time tactical display management, aircraft control, search and rescue, and weapon engagement.

The Piranha I CMS is the baseline for EDO's recent bid for the U.S. Navy's Littoral Combat Ship preliminary design competition. EDO is teamed with Textron, and will function as the Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE) integrator.

"Our success with Piranha I clearly demonstrates EDO's ability as an integrator of complex CCIS subsystems," said James M. Smith, EDO's chief executive officer. "We have an operationally proven solution that brings substantial credibility to our team's Littoral Combat Ship proposal. In addition to our role as a CCIS integrator, we have unique capabilities to provide operational systems in a number of mission-critical areas, such as ship self-protection and anti-submarine and mine warfare."

The Piranha I Command Management System was developed by EDO's Combat Systems unit, located in Chesapeake, Va.
