EDO WINS CONTRACT FOR ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE
SYSTEM
ON S-CLASS FRIGATES FOR GREEK NAVY
NEW YORK -- November 19, 2003 -- EDO Corporation (NYSE:EDO) has been awarded a contract to supply six CS-3701 Electronic Support Measures systems for use on S-class frigates under the Hellenic navy’s mid-life modernization program. Deliveries under the contract, which is in excess of $10 million, are expected to begin by November 2004 and be completed in 2008.
The CS-3701 ESM is a precision direction-finding system currently in use by several international navies for both surface and subsurface vessels. It provides improved situation awareness, targeting, self-protection and surveillance. The system continuously monitors potential radar threats, even in difficult electromagnetic environments, allowing the ship’s crew to quickly take defensive action.
The CS-3701 ESM equipment will be manufactured at EDO’s Reconnaissance and Surveillance Systems unit, located in Morgan Hill, Calif. In addition, associated Circular Array Interferometer antennas will be supplied by EDO’s Antenna Products and Technologies unit in Deer Park, N.Y. This antenna technology allows constant 360 degree surveillance, providing an extremely accurate, instantaneous direction-finding capability.
