LT. GENERAL (RET.) LESLIE KENNE JOINS EDO BOARD
NEW YORK -- December 1, 2003 -- The Board of Directors of EDO Corporation (NYSE:EDO) has elected Lieutenant General Leslie F. Kenne to the company’s Board, effective as of November 26. This brings the number of Board members to ten, of which nine are independent directors.
General Kenne, 56, retired from the U.S. Air Force in September, where she had most recently been deputy chief of staff for Warfighting Integration at the Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C. In that position, she was responsible to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff for policy and strategies to integrate C4ISR (command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) capabilities into a more effective utilization of air and space power.
Prior to that, General Kenne had commanded the Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. She has also directed a number of major programs, including the F-16 and the Joint Strike Fighter programs. Her Pentagon staff experience includes deputy director in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition.
"Leslie Kenne brings more than 30 years of leadership experience, as well as first-hand knowledge of the type of leading-edge military programs that are important to the future success of EDO," said Chairman of the Board James M. Smith. "We are proud to welcome her to the Board, and look forward to her insight and guidance as we strive to expand EDO’s role in the defense industry."
General Kenne entered the Air Force in 1971 as a Second Lieutenant after completing
Auburn University’s ROTC program. Early in her career, she served as a flight-line
maintenance officer in operations, and attended the Air Force test pilot school in 1974.
She progressed steadily through the Air Force ranks, serving in no less than 22 assignments
in the US and overseas.
General Kenne has received numerous decorations for military service. These include the
Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star
Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal.
