EDO INTRODUCES TWIN MAVERICK CARRIAGE CAPABILITY
ON
GEMINI 'SMART' MULTIPLE STORE CARRIER
PARIS - June 13, 2005 - EDO MBM Technology Ltd., a business unit of EDO Corporation (NYSE: EDO) has announced the capability to carry the Raytheon Maverick missile on its GEMINI Mil-Std-1760 twin-store weapon carrier.
This unique high-performance carriage capability is part of EDO MBM’s ongoing GEMINI product development and further underpins EDO market leadership in "smart" weapon carriage systems.
As proven in recent ground trials, GEMINI can be rapidly converted to accept two LAU-117 dual-mode launchers and AGM-65 Maverick missiles with the addition of a simple modification kit. The aircraft-to-Maverick communication protocol remains unchanged and no other flight line actions are required.
GEMINI, launched at the 2004 Farnborough Air Show, is designed to be a universal fit to a wide range of platforms such as Tornado GR4, Harrier GR9 and Eurofighter Typhoon, as well as other future platforms. By increasing the payload that an aircraft is able to deliver on a single mission, it provides enhanced operational capability through increased smart-weapon load-out and improved store mix, or increased range by clearing fuel-tank-capable pylons of ordnance with no loss in store quantity. It is fully Mil-Std-1760 Class 2 compliant and capable of carrying two stores of up to 1000 pounds each, with individual targeting and release of each weapon.
GEMINI with Maverick is on display at EDO Corporation’s stand E9 in Hall 3 of the International Paris Air Show at le Bourget.
EDO MBM Technology Ltd produces weapon carriage and release systems, rugged portable computers and flexible circuits for the aerospace and defense industries.
