EDO RECEIVES $4 MILLION CONTRACT FROM NORTHROP GRUMMAN

NEW YORK - June 28, 2005 - EDO Corporation (NYSE: EDO) has been awarded a $4 million contract from Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) for continued production of acoustic modules for the Light Weight Wide Aperture Array sonar system on Virginia-class attack submarines. This latest order covers production of four ship-sets of sonar-array subassemblies.

Under this follow-on contract, EDO will take fiber-optic acoustic-sensor assemblies supplied by Northrop Grumman’s Navigation Systems Division and integrate them into large multi-sensor acoustic modules that conform to the hull of the submarine. Fiber-optic equipment provides noise-free data transmission and significantly reduces weight.

"Undersea warfare has been a core market segment for EDO since the 1950’s," said James M. Smith, EDO's chief executive officer. "We have been involved in the U.S. Navy's Wide Aperture Array Program on submarines for more than two decades, and have a continuing commitment to engineer and deliver the most advanced sonar solutions for undersea warfare."

EDO Corporation designs and manufactures a diverse range of products for the defense industry and commercial markets, and provides related engineering and professional services.

Major product groups include: Defense Electronics, Communications, Aircraft Armament, Undersea Warfare, and Integrated Composite Structures. EDO’s advanced systems are at the core of the transformation to lighter, faster, and smarter defense capabilities.

EDO (www.edocorp.com) was founded in 1925 and is headquartered in New York City. The company employs 2,700 people and had revenues of $536 million in 2004.
