EDO RECEIVES CONTRACT FOR MISSILE WARNING SIMULATION

NEW YORK - Oct. 19, 2006 - EDO Corporation (NYSE: EDO) has received a $20 million five-year contract for continued development of a missile-warning simulation system. The U.S. Army’s Project Director for Aircraft Survivability Equipment awarded the contract to the EDO-CAS business unit.

The Common Missile Warning System (CMWS), currently employed on U.S. Army helicopters, was developed to enhance the survivability of helicopters from Man Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS). CAS has been supporting the CMWS with end-to-end simulation since 1994. This latest contract continues that simulation development effort. The simulation system is used to assess the performance and effectiveness of the CMWS in a variety of realistic operational environments.

EDO’s Chief Executive Officer James M. Smith explained that "our recent acquisition of CAS has added approximately 1,000 highly-skilled engineers and professionals to the EDO team. Their long-term record of service to the Army at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. and around the world adds another important area of support to EDO’s 80-year legacy of serving our nation’s military."

Major product groups include: Professional and Engineering Services, Defense Electronics, Communications, Aircraft Armament Systems, Undersea Warfare, and Integrated Composite Structures.
